The wealthy have benefited enormously from decades of tax cuts while wages stagnated for everyone else and critical services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure crumbled. We're one of the richest countries on Earth but can't guarantee basic medical care or affordable college—it's a choice, not an inevitability. Raising taxes on the top earners to fund universal programs is both economically sound and morally necessary if we want to fix the growing inequality crisis.
Higher taxes on the rich just kill investment, job creation, and economic growth—these are the people who start businesses and create opportunities for everyone else. We've already seen that lower tax rates generate more revenue by stimulating the economy, and the real problem isn't that the wealthy don't pay enough, it's that government wastes money endlessly. Before we punish success, we need to fix how Washington actually spends what it already takes in.
