Developed nations built their wealth by burning fossil fuels for centuries while developing countries bore zero responsibility but now face the worst climate impacts—floods, droughts, ruined agriculture. It's fundamentally unjust that the Global South pays the price for industrialization it didn't cause. Wealthy countries should fund climate adaptation and loss-and-damage reparations as a moral obligation and practical investment in stability.
Reparations sound noble but are logistically impossible: who decides the amounts, how do you calculate historical emissions fairly, and will the money actually reach affected people or get lost in corrupt governments? It's also politically toxic—no wealthy democracy will impose massive taxes on their own citizens for this. Instead, we should focus on pragmatic green finance and technology transfer that actually gets resources to where they're needed.
