India has 1.4 billion people to lift out of poverty, and we can't do that without manufacturing jobs and economic growth. Countries like the UK and US built their wealth by industrializing hard first, then cleaning up later when they could afford it. We need factories, highways, and power plants now—not decades of environmental studies while our citizens remain poor and jobless. Strict regulations just push industry to other countries anyway.
We're already choking—Delhi has among the world's worst air quality, our rivers are toxic, and climate disasters are hitting us hardest despite us causing the least emissions. Industrializing without controls now means generations of Indians will pay in healthcare costs, ruined agriculture, and climate refugees. We have the chance to grow differently than the West did; betting our children's lungs on the promise of cleanup later is moral bankruptcy we can't afford.
