Rich countries industrialized for centuries by burning fossil fuels, pumping most of the CO2 already in our atmosphere — they created this mess and have the resources to fix it. It's fundamentally unfair to demand that poor nations sacrifice their development and lift millions out of poverty when the West built its wealth through the very emissions that caused this crisis. Climate justice means those who benefited most should lead the cleanup.
The climate doesn't care who emitted the CO2—it affects everyone equally, so everyone needs to act now. China and India are now the world's largest emitters by volume, and telling developing countries they can pollute freely while rich nations cut emissions just delays the solution and locks in catastrophic warming. A fair approach means all countries commit to the same reduction targets, with financial aid for those that need help, not excuses for anyone to keep polluting.
