Rich countries have historically emitted the most carbon and built their wealth on fossil fuels, so they bear primary responsibility for the climate crisis. Millions of people in developing nations will lose their homes through no fault of their own—to rising seas, droughts, and extreme weather they didn't cause. Basic justice means wealthy nations should open their doors to those displaced by a problem we created, rather than forcing the poorest to suffer the consequences of our industrial excess.
