Wealthy nations built their prosperity on centuries of fossil fuel consumption and industrial pollution that caused the climate crisis. They have a moral and legal duty to accept climate refugees from vulnerable nations that did little to cause the problem but face drowning coastlines, crop failures, and uninhabitable heat. Forcing acceptance is the only way to ensure fairness rather than letting rich countries virtue-signal while passing the human cost to the poorest regions.
No country can sustainably absorb unlimited refugees while maintaining social cohesion, infrastructure, and economic stability for its own citizens. Nations have the right to determine their own immigration policy based on what they can realistically integrate and support. Wealthy countries already donate billions in climate aid and renewable investment—forced refugee quotas would be economically destabilizing and set a precedent that opens borders to any crisis, which is politically unsustainable.
