Economic growth lifts billions out of poverty and funds the innovation we actually need to solve problems—including environmental ones. Countries that became wealthy first can now afford solar panels and clean technology because they got rich from fossil fuels. Demanding poor nations sacrifice development for the climate is asking them to stay poor indefinitely while the developed world already got its turn.
We're already hitting planetary boundaries that no amount of future wealth can undo—species extinction, ocean acidification, and climate tipping points aren't reversible with money. Pursuing endless growth on a finite planet is mathematical impossibility dressed up as policy. We need to decouple wellbeing from consumption and build economies that work within Earth's limits, or we'll all lose everything regardless of GDP numbers.
