We spend nearly $800 billion annually on military and foreign aid while Americans struggle with crumbling infrastructure, healthcare costs, and underfunded schools. It's time to prioritize fixing problems at home instead of serving as the world's police force. Other wealthy nations manage their own defense—Europe, Japan, and South Korea are perfectly capable of bearing their share of security costs rather than relying on endless American support.
American military presence and alliances prevent far worse conflicts and protect global trade routes that directly benefit our economy. Retreating from the world stage would hand influence to China and Russia, ultimately forcing us into costlier conflicts later. Our leadership has prevented great power wars for 80 years—abandoning that role is reckless nostalgia, not fiscal responsibility.
