A rising tide lifts all boats—when the economy grows, everyone benefits through job creation, higher wages, and better services, even if gains aren't perfectly distributed. Focusing obsessively on wealth gaps discourages investment and entrepreneurship, which are the actual engines of prosperity. Countries that prioritize growth have historically created more wealth for working people than those that redistribute slower-growing economies.
We've had decades of growth while inequality has skyrocketed and millions still struggle with healthcare, housing, and education costs—clearly growth alone doesn't solve these problems if it only goes to the wealthy. An economy where most people can't afford basic necessities while billionaires hoard unprecedented wealth is fundamentally unstable and corrosive to democracy. We need policies that ensure prosperity is broadly shared, or growth becomes meaningless to ordinary Americans.
